Celebrating the Written Word: Creative Writing for Ages 10–14
In this joyful, low-pressure class, young writers will explore the power of language through poetry, short stories, and other creative writing pieces. We’ll experiment with different poetic forms, learn the basics of short story writing, and practice using strong descriptive language to make our work vivid and engaging. When possible, fun games and creative activities will be used to introduce writing concepts in a fun, interactive way.
Students will also get creative with projects like zines and blackout poetry that will turn their words into art. Some light homework may be assigned as needed to complete writing pieces. While always optional, peer sharing will be gently encouraged to help build confidence and celebrate each student’s unique voice. All levels of experience are welcome in this supportive, imaginative space!
